Birdies x Minted
We’ve teamed up with Minted to create a limited-edition capsule collection of beautifully embroidered flats celebrating three female artists and their nature-inspired art of flora & fauna that brings the wild inside. For two companies centered around building community and supporting women—like these amazing independent artists—this special collaboration was a natural fit.
The Collection
Our special Birdies x Minted collection brings the best in design to the stylish flat that’s secretly a slipper. Wildly unique from sketch to shoe, each of the three styles in this collection features the work of independent female artists on Birdies’ classic silhouettes. These works of art by Julie Murray, Jessie Burch, and Emilie Simpson are inspired by nature and come to life in the form of beautifully embroidered flats as interesting as the artists who designed them.
Meet the Artist:
Julie Murray
Artist & Entrepreneur | Tulsa, Oklahoma
Julie’s art is heavily influenced by the beauty and creativity she sees reflected in her daughters and their adventures together. Her falling fern shoe design is inspired by a lifelong love for botanicals and sketching the intricacies she finds in every leaf and petal.
Meet the Artist:
Emilie Simpson
Fine Artist & Illustrator | Bowmanville, Canada
Using mostly watercolor and gouache, Emilie creates imaginative scenes on paper that reflect her love for the natural world. The zebra art for our Heron flat was part of an animal alphabet series she started working on after her daughter was born.
Meet the Artist:
Jessie Burch
Mixed-Media Artist | Portland, Oregon
Jessie uses watercolor, gouache, colored pencils, found paper, and digital tools to bring life to her art. Her background in art history, love of research and reading, and fascination with objects of the past all inform her style and subject matter, including the natural history illustrations that inspired her bee-eater design for the Royal Perch shoe.
